Denver's Meeting and Convention Business Rebounds

We reported last month that Denver has been named the world’s best convention city. There is more good news to share!

VISIT DENVER recently announced that Denver’s meeting and convention business made a big rebound in 2010, recording its second best year in history.

VISIT DENVER reports that there were 75 conventions in the Colorado Convention Center and 423 other meetings in 2010, for a total of 371,003 delegates with an economic impact of $653 million. Denver had 378,863 delegates in the best year of 2008, and 313,540 delegates in 2009.

Some of the high-profile conventions held in Denver in 2010 include: SnowSports Industries America Snow Show, Heart Rhythm Society, American Public Health Association, American Society of Nephrology, International Society for Technology, and many more!

VISIT DENVER also announced that the strong convention year helped Denver hotels last year, with occupancy rates for downtown Denver hotels increasing from 63.7 percent in 2009 to 70.3 percent in 2010. The average room rate also increased from $140.88 to $147.55 year-over-year. The closely-watched RevPar, which measures the revenue per room, increased 15 percent, from $89.79 in 2009 to $103.69 in 2010.
