Meeting Planning Named Among Best Careers for 2010

There is good news for the meeting-planning industry. U.S. News and World Report recently named meeting and convention planning as the eighth best career choice among its “Job Outlook for Best Careers 2010.”

U.S. News analyzed the Labor Department's recent job growth projections for 2008 to 2018, looking for 50 occupations that are expected to add jobs at an above-average rate over the next decade, while offering an above-average median income.

Despite the recent economic downturn, meetings are still going on, and it is expected that they will become increasingly important to global business operations. As a result, employment of meeting and convention planners is expected to grow 16 percent over the next decade, higher than most other professions' projected growth rates.
